Joe Mata Vallejos, age 78, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Joe was born on May 11, 1947, in Tortugas, New Mexico to his loving parents, Manuelita and Sylviano Vallejos.
Joe spent most of his life in Redlands and San Bernardino, California, where he worked for many years with dedication and pride for the City of Redland where he retired from. He also spent a couple of years living in Porterville, California, with his sister, Marylou Vasquez. In his later years, he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he was lovingly cared for by his cousin, Rosemary Mascitelli
He is survived by his brothers, Albert Vallejos and Santiago Vallejos; his sister, Mary Lou Vasquez; his uncle Julian Mata; his daughters, Sally and Martha; his grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Manuelita and Sylviano Vallejos; his brothers David Vallejos, Jesse Vallejos, and Fred Vallejos; and his sister Manuelita (Nellie) Vallejos, and his son Joe Vallejos Junior.
Joe will be remembered as a strong, brave, and deeply loving man who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His kindness, resilience, and strength will be missed dearly by all who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces.
