Josefina Gonzalez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 13, 2024.
We honor, celebrate, remember and say our final goodbyes to Josefina Gonzalez whom many of you known as "Jocelyn" "Jojo" or "Tiny". Josefina was a beloved daughter to Maria and Guadalupe Gonzalez, a sister, cousin, auntie to 19 nieces and nephews, partner, friend and most importantly a mother of three beautiful children (Aleena Lynn, Layla Rose and Anthony Dejun) whom she left here with us to love, cherish and always remind them that their mother loved them so dearly! Josefina was the most generous, loving, caring, kind, motivated, passionate and understanding person who always put others before herself. Born ni Los Angeles, CA on 11/3/1993, she was the 10th youngest child out of 4 brothers (Hector, Jorge, Victor and Jonathan) and 6 sisters (Norma, Elizabeth, Christina, Imelda, Stephanie and Patricia) and the second sibling our family has welcomed to heaven. Josefina was raised ni Mexico and came back to the U.S. at the age of five where she started her journey at 75th Street Elementary School, graduated and went to Bethune Middle School. She continued her journey at John C. Fremont High School where she become more involved by joining the Cheerleading team with my sister Patricia and was honored as the cheer co-captain of the cheer squad. Josefina was also an activist. She was involved with Community Coalition's South Central Youth Empowerment through Action and helped many individuals in South LA get out and vote. She continued her growth by transferring and graduating from Y.O.U. High School in 2012 where she served as student body President, was voted prom queen and where she continued to positively impact and make differences in the lives of many individuals. After graduating, our precious sister decided to take the big step and moved to Las Vegas.
Committed to working long hours and saving up to buy a home for her future children and family, Josefina than met the love of her life "Marquese Jackson" her boyfriend whom she always dreamt of marrying and having children with. They both welcomed their first child- Anthony Dejun Jackson Gonzalez in 2014. They welcomed their second child Layla Rose Jackson Gonzalez in 2019. And continued to expand their family as they welcomed their last child- Aleena Lynn Jackson Gonzalez in 2023.
Josefina always dreamt of buying a home for her children, helping her family and making a difference in everyone's lives by touching those individuals with her warmth, care and love. Josefina always strived to not only be a great mother, but also fulfilled the duties of a wonderful loving girlfriend, daughter, sister and friend! After welcoming her second child (Layla), Josefina then decided to continue her education. In 2021, she pursued her higher education and received a certificate in Human Resources Management from Cornell University (a top Ivy League university in the country). The program was to be completed in two years, but it only took Josefina six months to obtain her certificate. It was her drive, passion and love for her family and her commitment to serving and helping people that motivated her to further her education. She wanted her children to know that if mommy can do it, they can too.
We were all so proud when she obtained her certificate because she was the first in our family to obtain a license in Human Resources. After being a full time mommy for 5 years, she than decided to continue her work journey and applied to jobs that will allow her to expand her expertise in the health and wellness field. She was offered a job on Saturday, September 30th and her first day of work was on October 2, 2023.
God himself speaks to our spirits and lets us know when he is calling us home to heaven. Josefina was then called home from our God. Isaiah 32:18 expresses God's intentions for home are to be a place of peace. security and rest. While Josefina is no longer with us in the flesh, we must remember that she was a remarkable mother, caring, thoughtful, hardworking, intelligent and a loving person. She was a person with great integrity, compassion and believed in family, faith, hard work, independence, loved and touched everyone's heart. She always said "family was the most important piece in her life" and "you get out of life what you put into it." Her words of wisdom we will always cherish.
In honor to her, we would like to share a beautiful poem (written anonymously) which captures our sister's life prior to departing to heaven):
Poem – "God's Garden"
God looked around his garden,
And found an empty place.
He than looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful because he always takes the best.
He knew you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never get well on Earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, "peace be thine".
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day god called you home.
Josefina Gonzalez thank you for being part of our lives. We are all going to miss you dearly beautiful sister. May you rest in paradise we love you so much and your memory shall forever remain in our hearts.

When you were a little girl you always dreamt of one day helping as many people as possible. You also dreamt of being an amazing mother and you accomplished both. Sister you are truly missed. There is not one day I don´t wish I can call you. You were my morning coffee, my mid-day joy and my bedtime reminder that everything is going to be ok. I wish I can call you from heaven and hear your voice again.

My favorite memory of you are your words of wisdom (written by you April 12, 2022).
