Josefina also known as "Josie" to many family and friends was born on December 6, 1939 in Malabuyoc Cebu, Philippines to Magno & Vicenta (Detuya) Teopiz. She had 3 sisters: Marie, Leoncia, Potenciana, 1 brother: Felipe, and 1 half brother: Modesto.
Josefina came to the United States in the 1970's and made a life for herself. She got married to Elmer "Shorty" Schies and they had one daughter Sarah Jane. Josefina started working at Hammons Black Walnut Company in Stockton, Mo and worked there for 24 years. After the passing of Elmer in 1985 Josefina continued to work, live, and raise Sarah Jane in Stockton. After the Stockton tornado in 2003 Josefina found love again. She met the wonderful Herman Gouty. They fell in love and got married in 2005. They were married for 19 years and lived happily ever after in Springfield, Mo.
Josefina is proceeded in death by her parents Magno & Vicenta Teopiz. Siblings Leoncia, Potenciana, Felipe, Modesto and late husband Elmer "Shorty" Schies. She is survived by her amazing, wonderful, and loving husband of 19 years Herman Gouty. Daughter: Sarah Jane (Schies) Lamoureaux and husband Mike. Grandchildren: Calvin Lamoureaux, Makayla Hoeft and fiancee Gavin, Brooke (Hoeft) Woolstenhulme and husband Dalton, Ashley (Lamoureaux) Horn and husband Tyler. 3 great grandbabies: Mavrick, Asher, and Louella. 1 sister in the Philippines: Marie Calope.
Josefina was a loving, caring, thoughtful, very stubborn, always worried about everyone else needing to eat and over all an amazing woman that will be missed greatly by all her family and friends. She loved watching the Miss USA and Miss Universe on tv along with figure skating and basketball. She loved spending time with Herman and her family especially the grand and great grandkids and she loved flowers. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield, Mo.
Graveside service will be held on Friday July 26, 2024 at the Resurrection Cemetery on 4577 W. Division St. Springfield, Mo 65803 at 1pm.

Josie will be greatly missed at St Joseph Church. Her warm and loving presence will always be cherished and remembered. God bless you dear Josie. Herman you and your family will be in our prayers.
