Joseph Allen Obituary
A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, he was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Medical School.
He interned at the Medical College of South Carolina in Charleston where he met and married Jennene Steedly.
After serving two years in the U.S Navy, Joe practiced medicine in Warrenton North Carolina. He returned to UNC Medical School for a residency in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
In 1971, Joe joined two physicians in founding the Portsmouth Psychiatric Center and leading the Adolescent program.
His main hobby was enjoying his sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Alissa Stribling and Melanie Connellee. He also has two granddaughters Mackenzie Kozak and Morgan Connellee.
A visitation with family will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home and Cremations, Southside Chapel located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
