Joseph Allen Jr.

November 28, 1948 - September 10, 2025

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Allen Jr., born on November 28, 1948, to Neffery and Mary Allen in Lafayette, Louisiana. He peacefully departed this life on September 10, 2025, in Bentonville, Arkansas, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Joseph was the fourth of twelve children and grew up surrounded by a loving family. His early years in Lafayette and New Iberia were filled with friendships and experiences that shaped the caring man he became. Known by many names-Father, Daddy, Grandpop, Old G, Taaka-each reflected the warm, generous spirit he carried and the love he shared with all who knew him.

He met and married Shirley Alexis, and together they shared a beautiful life and had three children who loved him dearly. Joseph's unwavering devotion as a father, grandfather, and friend was evident in all he did. His warm personality and generous heart touched everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impression of compassion and friendship.

Joseph's legacy endures through his children: Millie Allen-Briggs (Kendrick) of Abbeville, LA; Reginald Allen (Alicia) of Tioga, LA; Torraine Allen of Abbeville, LA; and Codarrell Allen of Abbeville, LA. He is also survived by his five sisters: Velma Allen, Renella St. Julien (Edward), Mary Beatrice (Clarence Ball) of Abbeville, LA; Marie Spencer of New Iberia; and Mary Greene (Oscar) of Bentonville, AR. His four brothers include Joseph Jeffery Allen of Abbeville, LA; John Irvin Allen of Erath, LA; and Robert Allen (Mijoma) of Rogers, AR. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to eleven, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who cherished him.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Neffery and Mary Allen; his brother Irvin Allen; sisters Mary Alice Shelvin and Mary Walker; grandparents Adline and Gustave Taylor; and great-grandchild Adrien Clark, among other loved ones.

His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he loved and touched during his lifetime. Though we mourn his departure, we also celebrate the precious moments shared and the enduring love he leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Joseph Allen Jr.-a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
