Dear Aunt Cil & family,

Yesterday was a difficult day for all. To say good bye to a loved one is never easy, even though we know deep in our hearts we will all be together one day.

I know I have many fond memories of Uncle Joe. When I was younger, there were many gatherings that Uncle Joe & Uncle Freddie would entertain us with their music. I never got tired of watching and listening to them play.

As an adult, I would stop by Mom's on any given Saturday, and Uncle Joe & Aunt Cil would be over playing many rounds of Skip Bo before lunch (of course keeping score as to who won the most games.)

As my own children grew and graduation celebrations occurred Uncle Joe & Aunt Cil would attend and Uncle Joe would have great fun playing Corn Hole (similar to horse shoes.) Boy, how he loved to have fun.

To make Uncle Joe happy it did not take a lot. If you asked what you could do or get for him, he would have but one request, "I'll take a hot cup of coffee."

Even though he will not be with us to enjoy that hot cup of coffee, the fond memories that we all have of him will stay with us forever.

Love,
Gail

Dear Ma Tante Cil & Family:

Memories............

When I reflect on mon Oncle Joe's life, my mind races with such wonderful memories. His infectoius grin, his passion for music, his love of playing cards but most importantly, the love and admiration he had for each and everyone of you.

Whenever in Newmarket, I would make a pilgrimage to Lincoln Avenue for a visit. Everytime, mon oncle would take me into the living room, to the gallary of family photos. There, starting with their wedding picture, then those of the children, he would pause to reflect on each persons life and their accomplishments. Words truly spoken with a husband's and father's love.

Memories, they are many! Family gatherings, sleepovers, playing Cowboys, Indians and Army, or just hanging out. The Arsenault and Hayes families were like one. We were not only counsins, but brothers and sisters.

Ma Tante Cil, I thank you, mon Oncle Joe and family for so many wonderful and cherished memories........

Sincerely; Lucien

Well, I'm very sorry that I never got to meet you in person Pep... and that you never got to meet all the 6 children. I know they would have been blessed by your presence, as I would have. The family spoke so highly of you, that I feel in my heart that we have already met. I will meet you one day, in heaven. Mem, I am so very sorry. I cannot imagine the loss that you must feel from losing someone with whom you shared your life and love with. I am always here for you if you need me. I love you.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Pepere Arsenault. I had the distinct privilege and good fortune to have met him several summers ago. He and his dear wife were the absolute model of hospitality and good humor. His son Joe models those same attributes today.
May his soul rest in peace. Sincerely, Sue

It was always a joy to see Joe and Cecile in church. I'll remember Joe as the talented fiddle player I first saw perform at the Newmarket Library over 25 years ago. We met when he was suggested to me for this event because he was one of the area's best old time, traditional French-Canadian fiddlers. I also enjoyed seeing him in the hospital and, toward the very end, at the nursing home. My sincere sympathies to Cecile and the whole family.

When I think of Uncle Joe, I especially remember the times when we would visit and he would take out his fiddle and my dad would take out his accordian. Together they would play music until it was either time to eat or time for us to go home. I can still see Uncle Joe's foot tapping to the beat of the music and him urging my dad to play "just one more song". I am thankful for these memories. Aunt Cecile, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
