Joseph "Joe" Baccala, 71, of Westminster, MD, passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2025. Born on August 28, 1954, in Washington, D.C., Joe was the son of the late Frank and Michelina (Ruzzi) Baccala.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Kathy Baccala, and their children Dominic J. Baccala, Vincent F. Baccala, and Gianna B. Siddique and her husband, Zachary.
He is also survived by his brothers Michael Baccala (wife, Patricia) and Luigi Baccala (wife, Stephanie), along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who loved him dearly.
A longtime parishioner of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, he also cherished his roots at Holy Rosary Church in Washington, D.C., where he and Kathy married. He was a proud graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School, where he played football and built friendships that lasted a lifetime. He continued his education and athletic pursuits at University of Maryland, before embarking on a 42-year career as a Commercial HVAC Technician, where he was known for his skilled dedication and quiet integrity.
After retiring, Joe embraced the simple joys of life. He loved cooking a good meal, tackling home renovation projects, cheering (or bemoaning) his favorite sports teams, and tending to his vegetables. Joe will be remembered for his steady presence, caring yet wry demeanor, and the quiet bluntness born of a life lived with honesty and heart. He lived with faith and integrity, and his example will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Joe's life on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2–5 PM at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, MD. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Joe's memory to consider a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network)) at https://PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org/ways-to-give/ or to DeMatha Catholic High School at https://www.dematha.org/supporting-dematha/httpdemathafinalsitecomalumnialumnisupporting-dematha
