Joseph E. Bryan, 74, of Dowagiac, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 17 at the Hartford General Baptist Church. Interment of his ashes will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Joseph was born March 26, 1951 in Benton Harbor. He served in the Vietnam war from September 1969 to his honorable discharge in January 1972. He spent time in Pleiku, Ankhe, Cam Ranh Bay and Dakto as well as traveled on the Ankhe Pass. Joseph also served in the Army reserves from 1974 to 1987. Joseph was a charter member of the Hartford General Baptist Church. He worked for Gast Manufacturing from 1987 to 2008. He loved his family and was very proud of his sons. His grandchildren were all loved by him. But when his Great Grandchildren arrived it was even better. He spoiled them all. When they arrived if they wanted M&M's he went to the local store and bought them the BIG bag and popsicles or anything else they wanted. He is survived by: his wife, Brenda (Taylor) Bryan of Dowagiac, MI Sons: Lloyd Michael Bryan of Benton Harbor, MI, and Joshua J (Jennifer) Bryan of Dowagiac, MI Grandchildren: Rochelle (Andrew Jr) Cobe of Southport NC, Alexis (Josh) Bryan of Dowagiac, MI; Tyler Bryan (Desiree Coulson) of Niles, MI; Jordan Bryan (Elijah Cobe) Southport NC and Aiden Bryan of Dowagiac, MI Great Grandchildren: Loralie, Andrew III and Rexton Cobe of Southport NC; Willow Bryan, Levi Coulson & Owen Coulson of Niles MI; Paislee Cobe of Southport NC; and Heylana Bryan of Dowagiac. Brothers: Larry Craig of Benton Harbor, MI; David Bryan of Eau Claire, MI; and Brother in law Lloyd (Linda) Taylor of Coloma MI. Sisters: Diane (Arthur) Smith of Cape Coral FL ; Kathy (Chuck) Angelo of Riverside MI; Rhonda (Scott) Patzer of Niles, MI; Renee (Vern) Hamilton of Niles MI Nephews: Rob (Rae) Hoffman of Granger In; Jeremy Hoffman of Fayetteville NC; Chris Thompson of Niles MI; and Andrew Thompson of MO.; Lanny Bryan of Il. Nieces: Amanda (Troy) Weber Stevensville MI; Jennifer Miinch of Niles MI; Kari Thompson of Niles MI; Auna (Kurt) Kuhnle of Hartford; Chrissy Juroff of Bridgman, MI; Kari (Lonnie) Bennett of Coloma and Hilary (Cameron) Furney of Coloma, MI. Many great nieces and nephews as well. He was preceded by his parents; William Jennings Bryan, Betty Schaffer, brother Larry Bryan and great grandson, Maximus Cobe
