Joseph Bucci Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glenville Funeral Home - Glenville on Oct. 29, 2024.
Joseph A. Bucci, 70, peacefully passed away on October 27, 2024, after a long illness. Born on October 29, 1953, to Cesare Augustus and Blanche (Carbonneau) Bucci, Joe's life was a testament to the values of family, community, and personal perseverance.
Raised in the tight-knit Italian community on Goose Hill in Schenectady, Joe's childhood was steeped in cultural pride and a strong work ethic. A 1971 graduate of Linton High School, he adventured to the University of New Mexico to begin his college studies. He earned high honors and his Bachelors Degree in Accounting at Bentley College in Massachusetts.
Joe's professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. He proudly received his certifications as a public accountant and certified financial planner. For more than twenty years, Joe's skill and commitment saw him rise to the position of CFO for Fenimore Asset Management. His expertise did not go unnoticed, as the Albany Business Review honored him as the Top CFO in the year 2009.
In 1977, Joe married his beloved wife, Margaret "Meg" McBride. Together, they settled in Glenville, New York, and built a life filled with love and laughter in the Woodhaven neighborhood.
An active lifestyle was a cornerstone of Joe's identity. His passion for running was evident in the countless 5Ks he completed and his triumphant finish at the New York City Marathon in 2002. He was also a dedicated weightlifter. Joe's love for cycling pushed him and those around him to test their limits. The Adirondack Mountains bore witness to his spirit as he conquered many of the 46 High Peaks with his children.
Travel was one of Joe's greatest passions. His travels took him and his family to his ancestral roots in Italy, the grandeur of America's national parks, the sunny shores of Florida, the historic sites of Israel, and the familiar shores of Wildwood, New Jersey.
Joe's commitment to his community was unwavering. A longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, he also contributed his time and talents as a volunteer and board member for the City Mission and St. Vincent De Paul Society.
His laughter was infectious, especially when sharing his "dad jokes"; he would laugh to tears before the joke was fully accomplished. He was a proud Dad and Papa, who instilled motivation and unwavering support for his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Cesare Augustus and Blanche (Carbonneau) Bucci. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Bucci; cherished children, Christine (Bill) Capozzi and Anthony Bucci; adored grandchildren, Luca and Giuliana Capozzi and Olivia Bucci; his sisters, Ann (John) Frigolette and Denise (Ken) Troiano, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 3rd from 1 to 3 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. On Monday, November 4th, A Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church will begin at 10 AM, immediately followed by burial at St. Anthony's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the City Mission PO Box 760 Schenectady, NY 12301 or Society of St. Vincent de Paul Immaculate Conception 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville NY 12302.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and doctors at Ellis hospital, especially the staff on C6 and Doctor Liebers and Doctor Kahn. Also to Dr. Richard's and his staff from Mass General.

Joe was a member of our Italian class at the Glenville Senior Center. We all enjoyed Joe in the class. His friendliness, kindness and helpfullness has been what everyone mentions about Joe. We will truly miss him.

Joe has been a long time family friend and will be missed dearly. I've never laughed so hard, and felt more at home while getting my taxes filed.

I will always remember our big family reunions. I thought of Joe as "the muscle guy" who always had a big smile under that mustache and a joke to tell. He made you feel important just by the way he really listened and looked at you while having a simple conversation. My love and prayers go out to Meg and the family.

I will miss this funny little guy. He was always telling stories, but most of them were jokes and you always knew it was a joke because he would start laughing. One of his favorite lines when staring to tell a story was "To make a long story short" Joe was the best neighbor one could have. My condolences go out to Meg and the entire family. I will always remember Joe. Bob Hewitt

We have known Joe and his family since he was about 13. He was always courteous, friendly and always had a great sense of humor. Joe has been the nicest and dependable person his whole life. May he enjoy his reward in Heaven. Rich and Roz
