Ruth Ziotkowski Obituary

Ziotkowski, Ruth Ann
SCOTIA - Ruth Ann Ziotkowski passed away quietly in her sleep, at the Glendale Home in Glenville, N.Y., on December 30, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on June 21, 1940, in Dover, N.J., Ruth Ann lived a life marked by devotion to family, friends, and a passion for creating warmth in every heart she touched.
Ruth Ann was the cherished daughter of the late William and Phyllis (Coates) Burns. In 1962, she embraced a lifelong partnership in marriage with her beloved husband, Robert F. Ziotkowski. Together, they nurtured a family with daughters, Christina Parker (Bill) and Debora Schwank (Alan), who in turn blessed Ruth Ann with the joy of being grandmother (Gma) to Jazmine, Melysa, Bobby, Sarah, Tyler, and Elise. She also is survived by her grandpuppies, Shasta, Scarlett, and Savannah; her sister, Martha Burns; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Ziotkowski.
A woman of intellect and ambition, Ruth Ann pursued her studies in New Jersey, earning a BA in Economics from Douglass College and later an Associate's degree in Paralegal from Schenectady County Community College. Her career was as multifaceted as her interests, beginning as a dedicated military wife, and then transitioning into the legal field where she worked as a paralegal for notable firms, including Arkley Mastro and Robert Van Vranken. Demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit, Ruth Ann successfully owned and operated A-Z Paralegal Services.
Ruth Ann's love for life and learning extended far beyond her professional pursuits. She crafted cookbooks titled "Home is Where the Heart is," sharing her culinary triumphs, and found joy in traveling to destinations like Hawaii, Bermuda, Europe, and Asia. She treasured long car rides for leaf peeping and marveling at Christmas lights. Her hobbies ranged from word searches to arts and crafts, often found selling her creations with pride. A voracious reader, Ruth Ann was a member of her book club and imparted her love for learning and adventure as a Girl Scout Leader when her daughters were young.
Funeral services for Ruth Ann will be held at a date and time to be announced.
Ruth Ann's family would like to thank Ellis Hospital and Glendale Rehab and Nursing Facility for the wonderful care she received.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ruth Ann's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital or charity of one's choice. Online condolences www.glenvillefuneralhome.com
