Joseph Kelly Buckman, 82, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Kelly was born to the late Elizabeth (Johnson), and Joseph Fabian Buckman in Lebanon, KY. He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He was known as Buck, Bucky, Painter, That Boy, Lucky Buck and Shock Man to his many friends and family. Besides his garden and family, he loved spending every Wednesday volunteering at the Franciscan Kitchen for the past 18 years. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, and the Kentucky Wildcats.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph Fabian, and James Edward Buckman; son-in-law, Gene Cherry, and his beloved dogs, Jackson, and Buddy.
Kelly is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda (Knuckles) Buckman; children, Kelly Lynn Cherry, Joseph Kenneth Buckman, and Anita Kay Buckman (Belinda); sister, Patricia Ann Abell; grandchildren, Kelsey Juanita Kay Sego, Joseph Ryan Buckman, Nathan Kelly Knuckles, and Rayna Hodge and great-grandson, Maddox Fabian Evans.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Franciscan Kitchen.
