Joseph Buscemi passed away at the age of 98 on June 15, 2025, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Wilkes-Barre VA Meical Center, Plains Township, Pa.
A loving, caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Joseph's life was marked by his commitment to his family and his service to his country.
Joseph served bravely in the United States Army during World War II and later in the United States Air Force, showcasing his dedication and patriotism. After his military service, he continued to serve his community through his work with the United States Postal Service, where he was respected and valued by his colleagues.
In his personal life, Joseph was known for his involvement in local activities. He was a coach for the Swoyersville Little League, a member of the Italian Club, and loved being outdoors. Whether walking his dog, using his old-fashioned push mower, or shoveling snow, he enjoyed active, outdoor pursuits.
Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dolores Buscemi; his brother, John; and his son, Joseph "Joey" Buscemi.
He is survived by his brother, Salvatore Buscemi; sister, Grace; daughters, Dolores Nafus and her spouse, Dwayne; and Kim Honeywell; sons, William Kubaugh and his spouse, Lori; and George Kubaugh; grandchildren, Michael Cheremsak, Justin Cheremsak, Danielle Nafus, Jason Honeywell, Melissa Honeywell, Greg Honeywell, Adam Kubaugh, Christopher Kubaugh, Eric Glas, Matthew Stucker and Sean Martin; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held to honor Joseph's life and legacy. He will be remembered for his profound impact on his family and his unwavering love and dedication.
