Joseph Calabrese Obituary

Joseph Anthony Calabrese, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at the age of 45. Born and raised in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, Joseph formed lifelong friendships and cherished every opportunity to return home to visit his friends and family on Devon Street.

He attended Henry H. Houston Elementary School and George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science. Joseph went on to earn both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business from the University of Phoenix. His career was devoted to retail management, where his leadership, dedication, and kindness left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. His career included management at Express, H&M, and Weavers Way.

He was the beloved son of the late Carmen Calabrese Jr. and Catherine “Donna” (née McQuillan) Calabrese; and the loving grandson of the late Carmen Sr. and Marie Calabrese, and Robert “Bert” and Martha McQuillan.

Joseph is survived by his devoted brother, Robert Calabrese, and his wife, Sara. He was the cherished nephew of Darlene and Steve Martin, and cousin to Stephen. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the Philadelphia area, as well as extended family in Northern Ireland, England, and Canada. Joseph will be deeply missed by his many friends, especially his close companions and self-described “misfits,” Jennifer and Arianna, whose lives he brightened with his humor and compassion.

Joseph was known for his warm heart, sharp sense of humor, and a laugh that could fill any room. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at the Chestnut Hill Bocce Club (118 E. Hartwell Ln., Philadelphia, PA, 19118 on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm.
