Joseph (Joe) Carlantone, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday night, August 16, 2025 with family at his side. Joe was born in the Bronx, New York in 1934 to Joseph and Rose (Materaso) Carlantone, where he resided with his loving siblings, Marie (Taddeo) and Robert (Bobby) Carlantone. Joe was predeceased by his wonderful wife, Carol Ann (Smedira) Carlantone in 1980.
He is survived by his loving wife, Francene Carlantone, daughters Diane Cristella and her husband Stephen Cristella, Paula Dornburgh and her husband Leigh Dornburgh and Carla Hugo. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Carol-Ann Cristella, Kevin Cristella and Michelle, Amanda (Dornburgh)Loveless and Ryan, William (Bill) Dornburgh and Erin Brown, Tyler Hugo and Madison Hugo. He will be sorely missed.
He was blessed with adorable great-grandchildren, Corey Woods, Giada and Marco Cristella and Zachary and Luke Loveless.
Joe was a mentor and role model to many, especially his cherished nieces and nephews who feel his mark on their lives to this day.
Joe retired from the NYPD as a Lieutenant, serving at 1 Police Plaza. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to run one of the original food truck businesses, selling Italian treats throughout the New York metropolitan area. In addition, he wisely invested in real estate, creating a beautiful livelihood for him and his wife, as well as comfortable homes in both Somers, NY and Naples, Fl. Joe attended John Jay College in NY, NY for training in Criminal Justice.
Joe was a friend to many, known for his big smile and friendly demeanor. He loved hosting family barbeques and celebrating Christmas Eve in a time-honored tradition. He enjoyed physical fitness and had a deep respect for law enforcement and his Catholic faith.
We'll miss you, Dad - Joe - Papa - Grandpa - Uncle Joey!

A mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at St. Francis Chapel, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The chapel is right next to the main office.
