It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosalia Zach, age 86, on September 29, 2025.
Rosalia was born on December 7, 1938, in Reinersdorf, Austria. She lost her father, Frank Stoicsits, at the age of 4 and was lovingly raised by her mother, Mary Stoicsits, and her grandparents, Frank and Maria Boehm.
At 16, Rosalia immigrated to New York. While she often cherished memories of her early life in Austria, she built a successful and fulfilling life in America. A true self-starter, she became a business owner alongside her late husband, Alois Zach. Together they established Zach's Bakery, a beloved staple in the College Point, NY community.
Rosalia and Alois raised four children, Frank, Alois, George, and Maryann, instilling in them a strong work ethic and commitment to education. All of her children became college graduates and pursued successful careers, a legacy of which she was deeply proud. She was a devoted mother who created beautiful holiday traditions and lasting family memories.
To her friends, Rosalia was known simply as "Rose," a name that reflected her beauty and her kind heart. In her retirement in St. Pete Beach, FL, she spent much of her time tending to her garden, where every flower seemed to thrive under her care. She especially loved growing bananas, papayas, and Florida oranges. A true animal lover, she cared deeply for her pets and found great joy in her birds, whose songs filled her home with joy. Generous by nature, Rosalia delighted in sharing her homegrown fruits and was always ready to welcome friends with a warm conversation over coffee and a slice of strudel.
Rosalia is survived by her children, Frank Zach (Eleanor), George Zach (Lisa), and Maryann Porobija (Harold), her grandchildren, Leora Zach (Eli Youssef), George Zach, Nicholas Zach, Christina Zach, Stephen Porobija, and Michael Porobija; and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Andrew, William, and James Zach Youssef, and preceded in death by her son Alois Zach.
She will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
Rest in Peace
