Joseph J. Chermack, 90, of Erie, passed away, Friday, March 24, 2023, at Walnut Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 29, 1933, a son of the late Joseph and Anastasia "Anna" Bardun Chermack.
Joseph graduated from East High School in 1950. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and served four years, including during the Korean War. He retired in 1994 from PresscoTech where he worked as the Warehouse Manager, Traffic Manager and finished his career as the Purchasing Manager. Joseph is a member of St. Peter Cathedral and a lifelong member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, swimming, current events, and especially spending time with his dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Chermack, and his sisters Margaret Barabas and Sr. Mary Grace Chermack, OSF.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sandra Grandalski Chermack; Carol Bebko (Donald), of Lynchburg, VA, Debra Chermack of Erie, Brenda Burnett (Mark), of Townville, PA, Kelly Marie Miller Scott (Charles) of Downingtown, PA, Kara Boyd (Timothy) of West Seneca, NY, Brent Chermack (Sarah), of Erie, fifteen grandchildren, Amy McCarty (Paul), Cory Lane (Nathan), Emily Bebko, Katie Bebko, Jacob Bebko, Maggie Burnett, Andrea Hoffman (Adam), Vara Cybart (Ryan), Case Pikor, Anastasia Boyd, Alexander Boyd, Andrew Boyd, Abigail Chermack, Joshua Chermack, and Tyler Chermack; nine great-grandchildren; his three sisters-in-law, Cynthia Sue Kloss (Anthony), of Erie, Darlene Petrone, of Harrisburg, PA, and Marlynn Tomlin, of AZ; his brother-in-law, Matthew Grandalski, USAF Rtd., Dalzell, SC; his niece and nephew, Mary Ann Tempestini (Daniel) and James Barabas; and many great nieces and nephews.
Joseph's family would like to give a special thank you to all the Glenwood neighbors and friends who gave him support and friendship over the years. Also, special consideration to the staff at Walnut Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation who treated him with dignity and respect as they cared for him during his stays there.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son, Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and from 5 until the time of funeral service there at 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
