Joseph Samuel Clarke

Joseph Samuel Clarke was born on April 27, 1930, in Chapelton Clarendon, Jamaica West Indies to
Adelaide Bryan, and Cecil Clarke. He was the youngest of three siblings, brothers Herbert Cameron
(deceased) and Edgar Clarke. His mother died when he was 12 years old, so little is known about his
immediate family. For most of his teenage years, he did not have a stable home and frequently moved
around. He eventually moved to Spanish Town and there met Floretta Clarke who became his wife of 66
years. Eight children were born out of the union, Trevor Clarke, (who preceded him in death); Ean
Clarke; Lynore Dyer; Alphanso Clarke; Edgar Clarke; E. Petina Clarke; Marcia Clarke-Smith, and Kevin
Clarke. He leaves behind twenty-nine grandchildren, and thirty great grands to continue his legacy. To
his children, he was a diligent worker and a quiet hero, who spent his life in dedication to his family. His
career life span was in building constructions and his last employment was with Broward Minority
Builders Coalition, Inc. where he retired. However, he continued to work and became a subsistence
farmer. He served as Head Deacon at First Ephesus SDA church in Hollywood for years, where he was a
resolute member. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Ambassador SDA church. Joseph
Samuel Clarke died peacefully at hoe under the watchful eyes of his dutiful wife on September 6, 2022.
