Joseph “Conner” Barkie beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and dear friend passed away on Thursday March 30th, 2023, at age 23. He is preceded in passing by his grandparents Joseph and Yvonne Barkie Sr. and grandmother Beatrice Leslie.
Conner was born to Charles and Barbara Barkie in Orange County, California where he lived the first 7 years of his life. He resided in Forsyth County, Georgia the remaining 16 years, graduating from South Forsyth High School.
He was passionate about helping others and was attending the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Psychology. As a selfless young man, Conner was working towards fulfilling a dream of establishing a center that would provide serenity and peace for young adults.
Conner enjoyed the outdoors immensely, taking hikes at local parks such as Indian Seats or kayaking at Lake Lanier. He had a passion for basketball and often participated in pick-up games at various recreational facilities.
He brought joy and laughter to the many lives that he touched, always leaving a positive impression with those he met.
Conner is survived by his sisters Lauren Wilson (Zach Wilson), Jenna Flanigan (Danny Flanigan), brother Justin Barkie and grandfather Richard Leslie.
A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday April 15th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Ingram Funeral Home located at 210 Ingram Ave. Cumming, Georgia 30041.
