Joseph Patrick "Pat" Dalsass, 78, of Washington Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025. Born on April 30, 1947, he grew up in Verona and graduated from Verona High School. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1973. He began his career at Koppers Co. Inc. in 1966 as a research technician and chemist. He realized his love of education and obtained his Master of Science in Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977. For 37 years, Joseph taught at Riverview School District as a classroom teacher, including 26 years of inspiring 3rd graders at Verner Elementary. For the Riverview Raiders, he was the varsity softball head coach, JV football head coach, and assistant coach for varsity football for more than 30 years. He also served as president of the Riverview Education Association and acted as the chief contract negotiator and grievance chairperson. After retiring from teaching, he worked as a financial professional and retirement advocate with Service Wealth Management. Joseph loved his community, serving as Washington Township Supervisor for 12 years. He also served as chairman of the Washington Township Planning Commission and vice chairman of the Washington Township Municipal Authority. He was an avid Pitt football and Steelers fan and animal lover he never met a dog who did not love him. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida, playing softball, and spending time with the countless people who loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Charleene (Ingold) Dalsass; his children, Danielle Dalsass (Matthew Crognale), Patrick Dalsass (Lisa Weddell), and Casey (Allison) Dalsass; siblings, David (Lois) Dalsass and Dennis (Debbie) Dalsass; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Virginia Dalsass; and his brother, Daniel "Danny Boy" Dalsass. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the compassionate staff at Concordia of Fox Chapel and Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful care he received. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. Additional visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, in the funeral home, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at Riverside Community Church, 401 Allegheny Ave., in Oakmont, with Pastor Jay Newland officiating.
