Joseph DiGiovanni Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.
Joseph DiGiovanni, of East Norriton, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, March 2, 2026. He was 94 years old.

Born on October 1, 1931, in Sciacca, Sicily, Joseph was the son of the late Accursio and Giuseppa Rosa (née Augello) DiGiovanni. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret DiGiovanni, with whom he shared 48 devoted years of marriage. Joseph and Margaret were married in Sciacca in 1950, before Joseph immigrated to the United States at 19 to begin building a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.

Joseph and Margaret cherished time spent with their family. They enjoyed vacations to the Jersey Shore and New York City, memorable family trips to Florida, and cruises to the Caribbean. Joseph especially treasured traveling back to Italy, which Joseph and Margaret did on four different occasions creating lasting memories with his children and grandchildren, including winter trips to New York City for annual Christmas Shows.

A proud and dedicated worker, Joseph was employed by the railroad, Lees Tire, and later by the Norristown and Methacton School Districts, where he was fondly known as "Mr. Joe." He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he formed throughout the years.

Joseph was a devoted member of Holy Saviour Church and an active participant in the Holy Saviour Senior Club. He also proudly served as a member of the MSS Club. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Known affectionately as "Pop," he loved playing the accordion for his grandchildren and family, and brought joy to all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Josephine White (William); his granddaughters, Laura Steele (Richard) and Jennifer White (Charles); and his great-grandchildren, Ava and Dominic. He is also survived by his brothers, Vincent DiGiovanni (Zina) and Charles DiGiovanni (Nancy), as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers Ignazio DiGiovanni (Accursia "Sina") and his sister, Margherita DiGiovanni (Rosolino), Jerome DiGiovanni (Dolores), and his beloved nephew Jerome DiGiovanni Jr. (Jerry Jr).

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Joseph's life on Tuesday, March 10, from 9:00 AM to 9:50 AM at Holy Saviour Church, 407 East Main Street, Norristown. His Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM. and he will be laid to rest at St. Patrick's Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's name to the American Cancer Society.

Joseph will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his deep faith, his strong work ethic, and the joy he brought to so many. He lived a long and fulfilling life and will be dearly missed by his family, extended family, and all who knew and loved him.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Pop was such a special part of my childhood, and I feel so grateful to have known him. Growing up with the White family, so many of my happiest memories include being at Pop and Mom-Mom´s beautiful home...the swim parties, birthdays, celebrations, laughter, and the way they always made everyone feel so welcome and loved.

Pop truly had the kindest soul and the biggest heart. He had a presence that lit up a room, and his smile and stories are something I´ll always carry with me. Mr. D aka Pop, thank you for being such a wonderful part of my life and my childhood. Those memories mean more than words can say.

Sending so much love and deepest condolences to Josie, Laura, Jennifer, Ava and Dominic, as well as your entire family, and all that loved him and who he loved back. Pop was deeply loved and respected by so many, and his legacy lives on through all of you. Rest peacefully, Pop aka Mr. D ,reunited with the love of your life
Love you guys Xo
