Joseph Ronald Domek, 92 of
Plainfield, IL passed away at his home October 28,2024. He was born in Chicago to Joseph Casimir and Marie Grace Domek. He was one of four children. Joe met his childhood sweetheart and future wife Mary Lou Domek (nee Conklin) at St. Viator's catholic school in Chicago. He went on to graduate from his beloved St. George High School in Evanston in 1950. He served in the US army in Greenland during the Korean War as a helicopter mechanic. Afterwards he pursued his interest in mechanics and Aeronautics both professionally and recreationally. Hardworking, enthusiastic and innately mechanically inclined since childhood he continued to build, create, repair and operate until his final days. In 1954 he married lifelong love Mary Lou and started a family. Being two creatives in their own way they shared many adventures including building a log home in Colorado.
Joe is known and loved for his generosity, intelligence, compassion, warmth, humor and concern for social justice. A leader in all that he undertook, his most valued role was that of a supportive leader of the family. He was devoted to his dear wife of 69 years and was an unfailing caregiver to her as health challenges dominated her final years. He and Mary Lou raised their children in Elmhurst, IL with empathy, fun, hard work and creativity. A proud grandfather he was engaged and invested in all of his family members and friends and loved rich conversations with them. He has left a remarkable legacy to his family through his enduring love and support.
He is survived by his loving children; Joseph F. (Kristine)Domek, David(Lynn) Domek, Lenore (Thomas) McArdle, Christopher (Mary Beth) Domek and Paul ( Holly) Domek. His treasured grandchildren; Matthew ( Natalie) Domek, Clarissa Domek, Corey(Jamie) Fennessy, Casey (Kelsey) Domek, Scott (Adam Havens) Domek, Samantha (Carlos) Lopez, Janelle (Zayn)Siddiqui, Brian (fiancée Helena Fugiel), Connor Domek, Elise McArdle( Eddie Chapman), Melanie Domek, Luke McArdle, Kevin Domek, Colin(Aly)Domek and great grandchildren Jackson, Ryleigh, Anabell, Oliver, Benjamin, Morrison, Jane, Cameron, Collette and Nolan. He is also survived by his beloved brother Alphonse Domek(Barbara), many nieces, nephews and relatives.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 6th from 3p-8p at Anderson Memorial Home at 21131 W. Renwick Road in

Plainfield, IL 60544, departing funeral home at 9:45am. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
