Joseph Emm Obituary Joseph S. Emm, 95, of Tinton Falls, formerly of Matawan and Cliffwood Beach, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
He was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Stephen and Anna (Pfeiffer) Emm.
Joseph is also predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret A. (Gother) Emm, his son Robert and his daughter-in-law Carol, and his granddaughter Taylor M. Emm.
He was a graduate of East Side High School in Newark, then went on to work as a chemical supervisor for Inmont Inc. in Bound Brook. His position took him out to Ohio, where he lived with his growing family from 1972 until settling back in New Jersey in 1974. He retired in 1993.
As a young man, Joseph was a firefighter and is a lifetime member of the Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Co. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Giants on TV and attending Yankee games and NASCAR races with his family, never without a thoughtfully packed cooler for tailgating. The most important thing to Joseph was being with his family. He was the maker of the antipasta and the supplier of champagne for every holiday, especially Christmas, which was his favorite.
Joseph cared for his ailing wife, tirelessly and without complaint, for 12 years prior to her passing in 2010. He then moved to Seabrook Village in 2011 and joined the Seabrook Performers where he developed a passion for performing on stage in many plays and concerts. Joseph, however, did not require a spotlight to shine, he had a spirit like no other and his personality was infectious. If he wasn't on stage, he could be found playing cards, singing karaoke, taking guitar lessons from his dear friend, Lucille Castro, or simply drawing a crowd in the lobby after his nightly mail pick up. He represented the best of Seabrook, and just like his family will never be the same without their incredible father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle, the Seabrook community that he lived in will certainly feel the loss of a great man with a charming character.
Joseph leaves behind his adoring children Joseph Emm and his wife, Sandra, Richard Emm, Jay Emm, Ronald Emm and his wife, LaDonna, and Evelyn Emm.
He also leaves behind 12 cherished grandchildren, and a precious great-granddaughter.
