Houlton - Joseph Harry Ewings, 56, went home to be with his Lord on October 21, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 5, 1969, in Houlton, the son of Harold Ewings and Gail Blinn.
Joe was a devoted husband and father who took an active role in every part of his children's lives. He could always be found cheering them on at their athletic games, meets, and events, taking immense pride in their accomplishments, dedication, and hard work.
A passionate cyclist, Joe formed countless friendships and competed throughout New England and beyond. He also shared in his wife's love of running, joining her in many races, including the Law Enforcement Torch Run and a 24-hour relay surrounded by close friends. He loved spending time outdoors, especially on his ATV and snowmobile.
Joe began his career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection in 2007 and, through hard work and leadership, rose to serve as Assistant Port Director in Houlton. He was a member of the Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team and received the prestigious Blue Eagle Award in recognition of his outstanding service and performance.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Angela (Edgecomb) Ewings; two daughters, Teagan and Teanne; a brother, Brad Ewings of Otis; and many cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law from the Edgecomb family, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and several other beloved family members.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Military Street Baptist Church in Houlton with services starting at 12 noon with a luncheon to follow. A procession immediately afterward to Evergreen Cemetery for interment.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Joe's memory may make a donation to Bridge of Hope, 300 Foxcroft Road, Houlton, ME 04730.
