Stacyville - Joyce Elaine Cummings, 70, was called home to the Lord on October 23rd 2025 with family by her side as a result of an ATV accident. She was born July 27, 1955 in Bangor to Merle & Helen (Atkinson) Crooker.
Joyce was the 3rd of 9 children. She graduated from Hampden Academy in 1973. She then graduated from Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute with an associate's degree in business where she met her husband of 49 1/2 years.
Joyce worked at Cummings Farm, their family dairy farm with her husband, John. They drove the success of the farm since 1978.
Joyce loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed baking. She was the hardest worker and strongest person known to many. She enjoyed riding her wheeler and loved farm life; especially the calves. She had a strong faith in God and was a member of the St. Benedict's Catholic Church, as well as the Molunkus Valley Snowmobile Club and the Katahdin Valley ATV club.
Joyce is survived by her husband John L. Cummings and their four children Helen (James III) Mooney of Augusta; Mark (Alicia) Cummings of Bradford, John J. (Lindsey) Cummings of Presque Isle and Adele (Wally) Nichols of Portland. She has 7 grandchildren: James IV, Riley, Alex, Benjamin, Raeley, William and Baylyn. She has a host of other relatives and friends. Joyce would start everyday texting or talking to her best friend, Holly Bates.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents and in-laws Earl L. & Cecelia Cummings.
Family & Friends may call 5-7 p.m on October 29th and again from 9-10 a.m on October 30th at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with a Mass to immediately follow with Father Michael Adebote celebrant with Deacon Dan Watson. The Cummings family invites you to join them for a luncheon at the Parish Hall after Mass. Burial at the Sherman Cemetery following lunch.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the first responders, Lifeflight of Maine and hospital staff.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made in Joyce's memory to Waiting Whiskers Animal Rescue, PO BOX 221, Sherman ME 04776
