Joseph “Joe” P. Fontes, of Manchester, passed away on March 5, 2025, after a sudden illness, with his wife by his side.
Joe was born January 26, 1947, in Somerville, MA, the son of Joseph H. Fontes and Yolanda A. (Sabella) Fontes. Joe graduated from Somerville High School and earned his associates degree. Joe had a long career as an Executive in the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Industry. After retiring, Joe participated in many community volunteer activities. He was a Big Brother in the BBBS program, volunteered at United Way serving on the Allocation Committee, and prior to the pandemic, spent several years serving at the 1269 Café and DYKH Ministries working with the undeserved community.
Joe especially loved spending time with his family, good food, and good wine. Joe was a great guy. His wit, humor, and concern for others, will be missed by all who knew him.
Remaining to cherish Joseph’s memory are his spouse, Wanda Tomlinson; children, Joshua Fontes and his wife, Denna of AZ; Jessica (Fontes) Thorp and her husband Larry of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Lilliana and Nayeli Fontes of AZ; sister, Linda Burns and her husband, John (Tom) of AZ. Joe also has many cousins and nephews, both living and having passed on.
