Joseph Leroy Gibbs, 94, went Home to be with Lord on April 22, 2024. He was born in Carnegie, Pennsylvania to the late James and Jean Gibbs. Joe attended Salem College, Pittsburgh and Duquesne University. He retired from Amoco Oil Company after 37 years of service. He was a longtime and active member of Severn Christian Church, serving as Elder, leading in worship and teaching Sunday school. Joe was also a member of the Boumi Shrine in Baltimore and very active in the Baywoods community. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed hunting and traveling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 67 years, Alice T. Gibbs.
Joe is survived by his loving sons, Jeff and his wife, Deb, Paul and his wife, Nancy; and cherished grandchildren, Aimee, Michael and Jimmy.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 9:30 AM, at Severn Christian Church. Visitation will be held prior from 9 – 9:30 AM. Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Severn Christian Church Youth Ministry, 8132 New Cut Road, Severn, MD 21144.
