BTC Joseph Edward Gleason, US Navy (Ret.), 84, of Charleston, SC, widower of Dolores Dean Gleason, entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 25, 2020. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. His inurnment will be held at 10:00am, November 16, 2020 at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, in Newtown, PA.

Joe was born December 28, 1935 in Bristol, Pennsylvania, son of the late Harry Gleason and Ruth C. Peterson Gleason. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years until his retirement. After his Navy retirement, Joe worked as a Boiler Technician in the Civil Service until his 2nd retirement in 2005.

Joe's love of aeronautics and planes moved him to earn his Private Pilot's license in the early 70's. He served for many years in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and gained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He received several awards for his life-saving rescue efforts and greatly enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie of his fellow CAP members.

Joe is survived by his step-sons, Gary "Rick" Cullop (Susan) of Martinsburg, WV and Barry Cullop (Patty) of New Windsor, MD; grandchildren, Richard Cullop (Jennifer) of Columbia, SC, Patrick Cullop (Lindsay) of Monrovia, MD, Thomas Cullop of Baltimore, MD and David Cullop of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Henry, Charlotte and Vincent Cullop; niece, Jody Gleason of Philadelphia, PA; nephew, Greg Gleason of Bristol, MD; many cherished cousins, relatives and his close friend and companion, Regina McHugh.

Joe was a great comfort and support to his wife Dolores in her final days. In time, Regina gave Joe loving care and support in his last days. The family will always remember Joe and Regina for their kindness and devotion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
