Joseph Grigasaitis, a lifelong resident of South Wilkes-Barre, passed away at his home after a brief illness on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Audrey Tomcho and Clement Grigasaitis.
Joe attended Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre. He was a proud member of the United States Coast Guard and often talked about celebrating his 19th birthday on the US Coast Guard Cutter Eastwind in Greenland.
Joe was employed as a laborer by Muskin Pools in Wilkes-Barre for well over twenty-five years before retiring.
He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 815 in Wilkes-Barre Township where you would find him weekly on Wednesday and Sunday nights talking with friends and acquaintances over old times.
Joe was a hunter in his early years, hunting small game and deer. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed several trips to Montana's Big Sky Country. His favorite hobby by far was fishing for trout, shad, small, and largemouth bass. He spent many years at his cabin in Cards Lake in Susquehanna County, where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Joe is survived by several cousins who celebrate his life privately.
