Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Lloyd Guidry, Sr., 92, of Jennings will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Jennings Miguez Funeral Home with Deacon Wayne Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Mr. Guidry will begin on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. and will close at 10:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. It will resume Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the 1:00 p.m. service time.
Mr. Guidry was born on July 19, 1930, in Lake Arthur to Genius and Nedia Trahan Guidry. He was a high school graduate whereafter he joined the United States Navy. He served honorably in the Navy during the Korean conflict. Mr. Guidry was a life-long resident of the area. He passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Southwest Veterans Home where he enjoyed playing Bingo and socializing. He also loved gardening, baking, joking and enjoyed being around his family. He treated everyone he met with kindness and a smile. He treated people for different illnesses.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Darlene (Ricky) Fontenot of Ville Platte; son, Robert "Bobby" (Mellany Walenta) Guidry of Richmond, TX; daughter-in-law, Sandra Guidry; seven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Una Marie Roche Guidry; daughter, Charlotte Ann Guidry; sons, Darrell J. Guidry and Joseph L. Guidry, Jr.; three sisters, Eula Broussard, Dorothy Broussard and Joyce Gaspard; three brothers, Charlie, Wallace and Rufus Guidry; and two grandsons, Craig and Derrick Guidry.
