Joseph Clifton Harrison, Jr., affectionately known as “Big Joe”, passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 73. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Marrero, LA. Joe was a retired truck driver of Sea-Mart and Cajun Cartage Trucking Companies. He was a member of the Steamship Association-Freight Handler Union, Local 854. He was a talented boxer and drummer, who as a young man played in the band “Sonny & the Radells”. Joe loved old cars and was known as good cook and fashionable dresser. He was a true New Orleans Saints fan, who proudly wore his custom designed Fedora hat, Saints jacket and shoes on game days. His legacy lives on in those he loved and who loved him, the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he left behind. Beloved husband of 51 years to Dr. Jacqueline Robinson Harrison. Devoted father of Dana Harrison (Khayree) Lee and Ongelle Harrison Bergeron (Fiancé Adrian). Loving grandfather of Khayree Jamal Lee, Jr., Khayren Jahai Lee, and Jonathan Charles Bergeron, Jr. Son of the late Joseph Clifton Harrison, Sr. and Delisie Neal Harrison. Brother of Howard Tomas Harrison and Cheryl Ann Harrison (Lennie) Breeze. Nephew of Leonard “Blue” William, Mercedes W. Jones, Mary Hill, and the late Charles Harrison, Albert Harrison, Rev. Wilker Neal, Edgar Neall, Mildren Mullen, Edna Reed, Pearl Cooper, Willie Dean Hollis Bell, Jessie Simmons, and Mary Fleming. Brother-in-law of Dalvin Jerome Williams, Sr. and Shanna Porter (Stephen) Smith. Godfather and cousin of Carlos Lee (Gilda) Williams. Joe is also survived by his lifelong cousins, Lionel Reed, Doris Brown, Ernest Flemings, Herbert Cooper, and Cynthia Bell, his lifelong friends John Flettridge and Larry Kelly, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Hartzell United Methodist Church, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Norman Francis, host pastor; Pastor Orin Grant, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
