With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the unexpected passing of Joseph Lee Hayes, a cherished member of the Bonaire community, at the age of 55. Joe leaves behind his devoted mother, Sandy L. Hayes, and his three beloved children: his two sons, Michael Joffre (Sarah, and grandson Jaylen) and Samuel Hayes. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kayla Hayes, whom we lost last year.
Samuel had a special bond with Joe and deeply treasures the moments they shared, though it pains him to think of the time that was cut short. Michael bears the weight of loss, longing for the closeness he wished to cultivate with his father. In their grief, they find solace in knowing that Joe is now at peace. As a dedicated bus driver for the Houston County School System for the past 12 years, Joe touched the lives of many. His warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed by his students, supervisors, and colleagues.
We invite those who knew and loved Joe to join us for a memorial service on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at his son's home in Macon, GA, as we come together to honor his memory and support one another during this difficult time.
Please sign the online guest registry at www.heritagemfh.com and leave a personal condolence.
Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
