Surviving are his wife Patricia, his 2 sisters Shirley Brown of Midland and Mary Bonham (Mark) of Kalamazoo, his daughter Jody (Randy) Watterworth of Frankfort, IL, his son Patrick (Merry) of Holt, MI, grandchildren, Alex (Chelsey) Hitchcock, Kody (Vana) Hitchcock, Kaylee (Tucker Bruce) Hitchcock, Jake Hitchcock, Evan Kanzaki, Ryan Oseman and Emily Oseman, 8 great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was proceeded in death by his father and mother.
Joseph was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted in Canada, Upper Michigan as well as Idaho and Florida, some of his hunting successes include, moose, caribou, wild boar and bears. Joseph also was a life long member of the Midland Nazarene Church, where he participated in various capacities including as the Missionary President, Sunday School Superintendent, Bus Ministry and playing and managing softball for many years on the church team. He also managed the Community Garden for the Food Pantry, for 7 years.
A cremation has taken place per his wishes and a celebration of life will be held at Midland Nazarene Church, 5700 Jefferson Ave., Midland, MI., Saturday, May 31 beginning at 11:30 AM. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. For those wishing to show an expression of sympathy memorials may be made in Joseph's memory to Midland Community Church, Gulf Cove Methodist Church of Port Charlotte, Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Midland Church of the Nazarene.
