Joseph Jeffrey Howard, age 44, of Marion, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital.
Joe was born on June 5, 1981 in
Nashville, Tennessee to Russell S. Howard and Diane K. (Ford) Howard. The oldest of two sons, Joe grew up in Marion, Ohio after the family moved there when he was nine years old. He was baptized by his father and became a member of the Richland Road Church of Christ, where his father also served as the preacher. It was at this church where Joe developed the strong foundation of faith that guided his life and where he remained active after returning to Marion more than a decade ago.
Responsible and dedicated from a young age, Joe proudly worked as a newspaper carrier for The Marion Star for eight years. A gifted student, he graduated as valedictorian of the Marion Harding High School Class of 1999. He continued his education at Rochester College in Rochester Hills, Michigan, earning his bachelor's degree in accounting and computers. While there, he was honored to be crowned homecoming king, a reflection of his kindness, humor, and ability to connect with everyone he met.
During his junior year of college, Joe took a chorus class that would change his life. It was there he met Erin Marie Beamer, the woman who would become his best friend and forever love. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership. They were united in marriage on January 21, 2005, sharing 20 wonderful years together and becoming the proud parents of two beloved children, Gianna and Miles.
After living in Michigan for several years, Joe returned to his hometown of Marion in May 2012 to help his parents manage The Little Red Caboose, a local ice cream shop. Soon after, he joined Morgan Stanley at their Easton campus, where he became a treasured member of the team and served as Vice President of Wealth Management Operations. His intelligence, dedication, and steady leadership made him deeply respected among colleagues and clients alike.
Back home at Richland Road Church of Christ, Joe served in any way he could-assisting with church deposits, leading small-group Bible studies, volunteering with Vacation Bible School, and supporting Erin in her preschool ministry. His had a strong faith even during life's challenges. He lived every day with God and family at the center of his heart.
Joe's positive spirit, reassuring presence, and perfectly-timed humor made him a friend to all. He cherished his family deeply-so much so that he would "burn up the road" to hurry home at the end of each workday.
Exceptionally bright, Joe was a master of numbers, a human calculator, and a fountain of fascinating random knowledge. He was a passionate fan of sports, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cincinnati Reds.
Joe's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. His legacy of faith, kindness, joy, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire those blessed to have shared life with him.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Erin Howard; two children: Gianna and Miles Howard; his parents: Russell and Diane Howard; a younger brother, Benjamin Howard; his mother-in-law, Christine Beamer; his sister-in-law, Nicole (Jason) Eleazer; and two nephews and a niece: Mason, Logan, and Taya Eleazor.
Joe was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dennis Beamer.
His family will greet friends from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Richland Road Church of Christ, 535 Richland Rd., Marion.
