Joseph Wayne Hutcheson, 74, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. Wayne was born on June 2, 1949, to the late Frances L. Hutcheson and Linnie Bell Gattis Hutcheson. Wayne graduated from Shannon High School in 1968 and from Delta State University in 1972 with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He married his wife of 33 years Cindy Reese Hutcheson on January 7, 1990.Wayne had an unsurpassed business sense and work ethic. He owned and operated several businesses in his career including Hutcheson Grocery from 1965 to 1981 along with his late parents. Later he and his brother, David, opened Hutcheson Tire Center in 1981 until 1993, in which he closed the tire business and opened WW Sales with his wife, Cindy. Together they operated this business until the time of his passing. Wayne also worked for Walmart on night shift at Store 114 in Booneville, MS, and Store 258, in Tupelo, MS, until he retired in June 2011.In Wayne's spare time, he loved cutting and baling hay, and working with his herd of cattle and other farm animals. His favorite equipment included a Mahindra Farm Tractor and his father's Ford 2000. Wayne and Cindy also fostered and transported rescue animals for Rescue the Perishing Rescue in Pontotoc, Ms. As passionate dog lovers, Wayne and Cindy took in many rescue animals that later became their personal fur-babies. In Wayne's eyes, every dog was a good dog. Wayne was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Guntown. He served as Deacon, Treasurer, Sunday School Director, Discipleship Training Director, VBS teacher, member of the choir, and softball team.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cindy Reese Hutcheson. He is also survived by 2 daughters, LeeAnn Allen, of Baldwyn, MS, and Nancy (Matt) Parker, of Ecru, MS. Surviving Grandchild, Austin Trey Allen (Kacie), of Baldwyn, MS. Surviving Great Grandchild, Trighton Cole Allen, of Baldwyn, MS. Other survivors include his Aunt, Barbara Ann Stanford and Uncles, Jr and Randle Hutcheson and Lawerence Gattis both of Northeast Mississippi. His Mother-in-law, Joyce L. Reese, of Guntown, MS, Sister-in-law, Marie Hutcheson, of Saltillo, MS, and Brother and Sister-in-law, Kirk and Loyce Reese, of Mantachie, MS. He also leave behind a best friend of 50 years, David Franks, of Missouri and a host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Wayne is preceeded in death by his late parents, Frances L "Hutch" and LInnie Bell Gattis Hutcheson, and his older brother and best friend, the late David Andrew Hutcheson, Brother and Sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Perry and Jodi Dill.
His services will be September 1, 2023 at 2 PM at Lee Memorial Funeral Home in Verona, MS with Bro. Bobby Robbins and Bro. Matt Parker officiating. Special Music will be by Rev. Jonathan Hood and Joel Matthews. Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Friday, September 1, 2023, from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park, Verona, MS.
Pallbearers will be Chuck McBrayer, Perry Lansdell, David Franks, Bill Hutcheson, Jimmy Kilpatrick, and Kirk Reese. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lacey Hicks and Ricky Grubbs.
