In Loving Memory
Joseph (Butch) Kopache, cherished father, beloved brother, and the funniest guy on the back nine, passed away peacefully early morning on April 16th at the age of 70.
Born in Canton, OH, Joseph brought laughter and love to his family. He had a quick wit, a generous spirit, and an uncanny ability to turn even the worst golf swing into a story worth telling. He belonged to St. Paul’s Church and was a member of the Croatian Club, number 514. He was employed at Republic Steel for many years and loved his McKinley Bulldogs.
Joseph was an avid golfer, he enjoyed making people laugh, he loved taking his kids to Cleveland sports games, and he took pride in coaching his son’s baseball team. Joseph unconditionally loved his children.
He is survived by his three children, daughter Melissa (Michael) Byrd, daughter Courtney Kopache, son Phillip Kopache, who carry on his sense of humor and his love for a well-told story, and his two granddaughters. He is also survived by his brothers Jim Kopache, Steve (Jeanie) Kopache, Richard Kopache, and sister Renee Kopache. Preceded by his parents Joseph and Teresa Kopache, and sister Jennie Kopache.
A private service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a funny memory, hit a golf ball in his honor, or simply raise a glass and tell a good joke—just the way he would’ve wanted.
