Joseph Lanosa Obituary

Visit the O'Brien Funeral Home - Bristol website to view the full obituary.
Joseph A. Lanosa, 88, passed away peacefully with his wife, Dolores, by his side on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on July 29, 1937, in Bristol, Connecticut, the son of the late Anthony and Mildred (Iemolo) Lanosa, Sr.

Joe graduated from Bristol High School in 1955 and went on to earn both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Central Connecticut State University. He taught for many years at Bristol Eastern High School, where he served as Chairman of the Industrial Arts Department. After retiring from teaching, he went on to start a successful condominium construction company until he retired to Bonita Springs, Florida.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who found the greatest joy in spending time with his family. His favorite moments were those spent with his grandchildren and taking them out for lunch-especially to Martino's and Blackie's-where he was happiest reminiscing about his childhood and sharing a good laugh. Joe loved Sunday family dinners and the Christmas Eve traditions that defined the family. He had a unique sense of humor and would spend hours making his family laugh at his colorful stories of his life growing up in the West End.

A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Joe never missed a game and checked the AL East standings in the New York Post every day. He lived to see the Yankees win 22 World Series and was lucky to have attended several in person. Joe traveled to almost all 50 states and was especially proud of his visits to Italy. He was an avid golfer and a proud member of Chippanee Country Club for over 30 years and Spring Run Golf Club for 25 years. He cherished both the game and the friendships that came with it. But it was Friday mornings at Chippanee that were most special to him, sharing his love of golf with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores V. Lanosa; his daughters Jodie (Joe) Jandreau and MaryBeth Lanosa; his grandchildren Daniel (Jennifer) Jandreau, Matthew (Emily) Jandreau, Madison (Ross) Haigler, and Michael (Alexa) Morsch; and his great-grandson Cameron Jandreau. He also leaves behind his sister Constance Lanosa-Jorgensen, sister-in-law Marilyn Lanosa, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles Lanosa and Anthony Lanosa, Jr.

A special thank you to VIA Hospice and Levine & Dickson Hospice House Charlotte, NC for the wonderful care given to Joe the last few weeks of his life. Calling hours will be held directly at St. Gregory the Great Church from 10 AM until the start of the funeral Mass at 11 AM followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to VIA Hospice at www.viagiving.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org
