Joseph William Lett Jr., 56, of De Pere, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at home on May 29th, 2024.
He was born in Royal Oak, Michigan to Joseph Lett Sr. and Anne Lett (nee Pastore). He was raised in Houghton, Michigan, and attended Michigan Technological University obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Surveying.
Joe was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Green Bay Packers. He loved to spend time with his family and dog Reggie at the Camp at Upper Island Lake in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Joe was a proud Yooper and planned a yearly trip to Houghton with a group of life-long friends. He was a Gordon Lightfoot and Jimmy Buffet lover, and Joe, MaryPat, his siblings, and friends attended a Jimmy Buffet show every year. On Wednesday evenings, you could find him with his Morgan-Mellberg fantasy football league, where he won once and lost the other 26 times.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and aunts and uncles. Joe is survived by his wife, MaryPat (Morgan) Lett, sons Joey (Bree), Sammy (Cameron), and Alex, granddaughter Ellie, his brother and sisters and in-laws, and his parents, Joe Sr and Anne.
He was dearly loved and will be dearly missed.

It is with a heavy heart that I remember "Joey" and my departed son, Randy, playing hockey as youngsters with their dads coaching their team. Wonderful memories of our families growing to be close friends. It is difficult to know Randy and Joey are no longer here with us to enjoy their families. Sending love and hugs to "you guys" in Heaven.........Suzanne Houle

We were both HHS grads, but our age difference kept him off my radar till we were both Tech students, then I got to know him.

I got to know Joe in high school and college when we both worked at Festival. So many goofy memories of that time, but top of the list is driving around with Mike M. and listening to all of Karl's lines from Caddyshack, which someone had gone through and recorded onto cassette.

Joes birthday party in about 2nd grade when he got a bike with one of those giant orange flags connected to the rear wheel hub! I was so jealous!

I have known Joe for a long time through surveying. Although I was a few years behind Joe at MTU, I knew of him but did not get to know him well, till later years. We frequented many of the same surveying meetings and knew many of the same surveyors and the friendship was quick to develop as we were both Yoopers. We frequently touched base while at MTU survey meetings. When I moved to GB from the UP, Joe was quick to call and see if I had a job lined up. He introduced me to WEC and I have been working with him since 2016. We frequently swapped camp stories and life back in the UP. I have received many email's and calls from his friends and fellow surveyors from across Michigan. It's a testament to how many people Joe touched through the years. His friendship will be missed on a daily basis.
