A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Joseph Vincent Lorenz, 71, who passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in
Lafayette, LA.
Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 9:00 am until the time of service.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Father Francis Fontenot, of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette, will officiate.
Joseph Vincent Lorenz was born August 27, 1953, in Richland County, South Carolina and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. His family moved frequently across the U.S., settling in Alexandria, LA. Joseph met the love of his life in high school and attended college before joining the United States Air Force Reserves in 1972, followed by the National Guard.
After his time in the service, Joseph worked in the telephone communications industry, spending 45 combined years with South Central Bell, Bell South, and ATT until his retirement. He was characterized by his diligent work ethic, and being a man of few words but a genuine, committed heart.
After retirement, Joseph most treasured spending time with family and friends. He was a supportive father and grandfather and attended all of their functions. Joseph was a true outdoors-man and enjoyed hunting and fishing at the camp. Family meant everything to Joseph, and he leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Candace Wilson Lorenz, of Youngsville, LA; his three children, son, Ronald Christopher Lorenz and his wife, Katy, of Carencro, LA and daughters, Lindsey Anne Lorenz, of Los Angeles, CA and Megan Elizabeth Lorenz Swyter and her husband, Harrison, of Boston, MA; his four siblings, Thomas Lorenz and his wife, Dana, of Rockwall, TX, Steve Lorenz and his wife, Cathy, of Rowlette, TX; his sisters, Kathy Lorenz McKinney, of Dallas, TX, and Belinda Lorenz Delaney, of Pflugerville, TX; his four grandchildren, Laurel Lorenz, Brett Lorenz, Anigre Swyter, and Elowen Swyter and numerous dear nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armin and Marilyn Kliest Lorenz; his daughter, Noel Christine Lorenz and his brother, Christopher Lorenz.
The family wishes to thank dear family and friends, the Doctors and Nurses of Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, especially the ICU staff, as well as the staff of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, for the compassionate care given to Joseph and his family.
