Joseph M. Macrina Sr., of Taunton formerly a beloved resident of Easton, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Born on August 19, 1930, he lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew him.
Devoted to his faith, Joseph was an active and committed member of the Church, finding comfort and strength in his spiritual community. He served as an usher for nearly twenty years. However, his greatest source of happiness was his family. Whether sharing laughter around the dinner table or creating lasting memories together, Joseph cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
Joseph was a loyal supporter of the Red Sox, finding delight in cheering for his favorite team during baseball season. He also appreciated the simple pleasures of life, often indulging in a glass of red wine paired with his meals and immersing himself in the pages of word search puzzles. His love for adventure extended to the thrill of gambling, particularly enjoying the game of craps, and the strategic gameplay of cribbage.
As a Korean War veteran, Joseph exemplified courage and patriotism, serving his country with honor and dedication. He was deeply involved in his community, contributing his time and efforts to various cultural clubs and organizations especially The Conte Memorial Club where he was the president for 25 years. He contributed forty years to Stop & Shop and fifteen years to ACE Surgical retiring at the age of 70.
Joseph M. Macrina Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering love, kindness, and generosity towards others. His legacy of compassion and community involvement will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joseph was the spouse of the late Mary P. (Meade) Macrina, who passed away in 2004. He was the son of the late Saverio and Marie Rose (Procopio) Macrina. Surviving him are his partner Marilyn Sikorski, his son Joseph M. Macrina Jr. and daughter-in-law Tammy (Williams) Macrina of Easton, along with his six grandchildren: Christopher Zaher, Nathan Zaher, Sarah Zaher, Bethany Rivera, Evan Williams, and the late Michael O'Brien. He was the great-grandfather of Kenai Zaher, Penelope Joanne Dias, Michael O'Brien Jr., and Remington Williams. Joseph was predeceased by his daughter Joanne P. (Macrina) Zaher and son James M. Macrina, as well as his brothers Richard and Sam Macrina. Surviving him is his brother Greg and sister-in-law Sandy Macrina of West Bridgewater, along with several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's memory can be made to St. Jude or Shriners Hospital.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
