HERKIMER – Mary S. Macrina age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024, with her family by her side.
She was born on August 25, 1935, at Herkimer Memorial Hospital, daughter of the late Oscar and Margaret (Higgins) Schultz. Mary graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1952. She attended Oneonta State Teachers College, graduating with a master's degree in Home Economics. On August 30, 1957, she married Richard F. Macrina at St Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. They shared a devoted union of forty-five years until his passing on September 13, 2002. Mary was employed at Herkimer County BOCES for twenty-one years as the Child Care Teacher in Vocational Education. A course she developed for BOCES. For over 50 years she was an active member of the Herkimer Garden Club and District V Garden Club, serving as President for four years, and Friends of Basloe Library for twenty-five years.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law Daryk and Sarah Macrina of Sherrill, a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Tim Tubia of Herkimer, four grandchildren, Thomas (Carolyn) Macrina, Maria (Tim) Rand, Nicholas Macrina and Teressa (Sarah) Tubia, one great-grandson, Oscar, a very special godchild, Amy DiLallo, a cousin, Marion Ruller, three nephews, along with many blessed friends.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis deSales Church, Herkimer on Tuesday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at Fenner Funeral Home Inc., will be on Monday evening, from 5:00 until 7:00pm.
Memorial donations may be made to the Frank J. Basloe Library, 245 North Main Street, Herkimer, 13350 or the Herkimer Garden Club, c/o Joyce Cristiano, President, 317 Mohawk Street, Herkimer, NY 13350.
