Joseph Anthony McCarthy, age 75, of Fenton, MO, peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Maple Grove Health Care Center.
Joe was born May 7, 1949 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Joseph A.McCarthy Jr. and Bonnie (Cummins) McCarthy. He is survived by two sisters, Marianne McCarthy and Maureen McCarthy both of St. Louis and nephew Mick Forgey of Kansas City.
Joe was a beloved son, brother, cousin, uncle and a friend to many. He was a smart, funny, kind and loving person. Joe was known for his witty sense of humor and enjoyment of life.
Joe grew up in Lancaster, PA and in University City, MO. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School (CBC) in 1967. Joe graduated from St. Louis University with a BA in history and a political science degree. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) EU Chapter while attending St. Louis U. Joe began his post-college career teaching grade school in Bellfountaine Neighbors.
Joe had a passion for foosball and a keen mind for video games. He was able to utilize his skills and business sense when he became an entrepreneur and opened M&M Distributing on Hampton in South Saint Louis. M&M sold foosball tables during the peak of the sports' popularity. Joe owned the business and he was a Regional Foosball Champion!
As the demand for video games grew Joe accepted a position as the St. Louis Branch Manager for Bally's Gaming Division. He worked in both St. Louis and in Chicago as a Branch Manager. Joe's self-taught skills and knowledge of electrical circuitry allowed him to continue his career in the gaming industry for many years.
Joe had a love of nature, exploration and the outdoors. He loved floating on the Huzzah River. In his 50s he developed new passions for vegetable gardening and baking pies. "Joe's salsa" and his peach pies were in demand at family events. Joe had a love of dogs and had one (or more) black Labrador dogs as a companion throughout his life.
Joe was an excellent soccer player most of his life and played league soccer as well. He was a goalie and known for sharp reflexes in the goal! An avid Nascar, Cardinals and Blues fan, he enjoyed watching his favorite teams.
Years ago, Joe decided to donate his body to the St. Louis University Medical School. We are honoring his wishes. Services will be held at a later date at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Fenton, Missouri. Please refer to:
