Joseph Edward Mislivec Jr

Joseph (Joe) Edward Mislivec Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
Joe was born on February 28, 1938 to parents Joseph and Irene Mislivec in Omaha, NE.
He attended Walnut Hill Elementary and Benson High School. With his interest in engineering, he attended the University of NE at Omaha for a short time but withdrew from the program due to the help needed at the family grocery store.
Joe began his work career at age eight stocking shelves and making deliveries at J&M Foods, the family grocery store. After marrying Carol Elsasser and starting a family, Joe decided to become a Pepsi Driver. Having years of grocery sales knowledge, he achieved the top Pepsi sales award many times. In 1976, he started a new journey by opening The Winchester Bar on 72nd & Q. Working together with his brother, Tom, they took the lifeless property into an establishment that is considered an Omaha tradition for locals and is still popular today. Joe retired in 2018 at the age of 80.
When Joe wasn't working, he loved being with family, boating on the Missouri River, building things and gardening. Joe's grandchildren enjoyed him as the "fun grandpa." One stating, "He gave us ice cream bars, pushes on the tire swing and rides on his jet ski."
He is preceded in death by his son, Joe and his dog, Buddy.
Joe is survived by his children Christine (Kevin) Olson, Jon (Melissa Stephens) Mislivec, and Mike (Wendy) Mislivec; brother Tom (Keri Scarpino) Mislivec; grandchildren Joe (Tiffany) Mislivec, Matt (Jessica) Mislivec, Jake Bieber, Danielle (Josh) Brodersen, Mitch Bieber, Connor (Julia) Mislivec, Michala Mislivec, Cory Koci, Simianna Mislivec and Marcus Mislivec; great-grandchildren Caden Mislivec, Madison Mislivec, Lainey Mislivec, Lexi Mislivec, Chase Mislivec, Wesley Mislivec, Julian Brodersen, Jay Landolt, Cohen Landolt, and Peyton Landolt; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at a later date in Omaha, NE.
Joe will be put to rest in the mausoleum at Forest Lawn in Omaha, NE next to his son, Joe.
