Joseph Murdock Mohler, age 75, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 in Wink, TX. He was born on April 25, 1949 in Gulfport, MS to Earl Nelson and Eloise (Simmons) Mohler. Joe married Paula Ann Blackwell on July 20, 1968 in Longbeach, MS and they shared almost 57 wonderful years together.
Joe was a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and graduated from Harrison High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. After returning home, Joe earned a Bachelor's degree in secondary education, a major in athletics, administration and coaching, and a minor in secondary mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. He spent the majority of his adult life teaching at Harrison Central Ninth Grade School, the Texas Youth Commission and Wink High School. Joe taught school for 39 years in total. He was the pastor at the Community Baptist Church in Wink for over 35 years. He was very involved with the Children's Ministry, taking boys to the Eagle Wings Boy Camp in Medina, TX. Joe was also very involved with Sam Craig Ministries in Smithville, TX, Operation Christmas Child, Cadence International, the Gideons International, and a founding member of the National Museum of the United States Army in Washington, DC.
Joe loved the Lord and enjoyed teaching others. He was very faithful and dependable. His last ministry project will be an Easter family reunion that will be held in Mississippi. Joe adored his wife and was very faithful to his marriage covenant. He will be dearly missed. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Earl Nelson and Eloise Mohler; brother: William (Bill) Earl Mohler; sister-in-law: Venda Dyess Mohler; and son-in-law: James Bennett.
