Joseph Patrick Cea

SOUTHBURY - Joseph P. Cea of Southbury, CT passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023 surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Ruckh) Cea.
Joe was born in Bronx, NY to Joseph and Edith (Faiella) Cea. He attended Holy Rosary School during his early years and continued on to Cardinal Hayes High School where he played in the band and on the baseball team. During this time, he also was a father figure to his two younger brothers, Alexander and Louis, as their father died when Joe was only sixteen.
He continued his education at Iona University in New Rochelle, NY and then started working at the Dollar Savings Bank on Grand Concourse in the Bronx. After getting married to Eleanor in 1962, he landed a job with Avon Products. During the 25 years he was with the company, he was able to work his way up through the company - starting as a computer programmer and ending up in top management. He eventually moved his family to New Fairfield in 1968. During his time in New Fairfield, he coached Little League teams, played softball, and had many adventures as the Cub Master. Joe was fun to be around; he was always making those around him laugh and knew how to have a good time. Above everything, he was a family man. His family came first and it is something he worked at instilling in all.
Joe was preceded in death by Joseph (father), Edith (mother), Alexander (brother), and Richard (cousin). Aside from his beautiful wife Eleanor, he leaves behind his brother Louis Cea and his partner Geri of Greenwich, CT; his cousin John Faiella and wife Charlene of Mamaroneck, NY; his sister-in-law Maria Cea from Washington Township, NJ; his cousin Maryann Scaglione of New Rochelle, NY; his daughter Gina Bernard and her husband Greg of Middlebury, CT; his daughter Christine Cea-Curry and her husband Paul of Marstons Mills, MA; his son Joseph Cea and his wife Lenaick of New Fairfield, CT; his grandchildren Elijah Novicky and his fiance, Genevieve Nolan, Christian Cea-Curry, Cori Cea-Curry, Jenna Cea-Curry, Joseph Cea, Tess Cea, and Benjamin Benard; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, family, friends (including the furry ones).
A celebration of Joe's life will be held on August 26, 2023 from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at the Traditions Meeting House on Traditions Blvd. in Southbury, CT.
