Joseph E. Primo

On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Joseph E. Primo, age 80, of McCandless Twp. Beloved husband for 55 years of Kathleen A. Primo; brother of Roseann Fusina, Janet (Jim) Banaszak, and the late Albert Primo, Jr.; son of the late Albert and Jeanette (Rovitto) Primo; also survived by many nieces & nephews. If there's a highway to heaven, chances are Joe Primo built it. He took that road home to his eternal reward. He's in heaven now. For more than 50 of his 80 years, Joe supervised many of the biggest highway projects in Western Pennsylvania, first with Penndot and then with Michael Baker & Co. You could fill a large room with the awards he won for his work. Pancreatic cancer met its match in Joe Primo. He conquered it for almost five years. It was a miracle but no surprise to anyone who knew him. He was a fighter. His love of life and love for his family kept him going. Cancer won out in the end but it never killed Joe's spirit. Nothing was more important to Joe than family. First, was his love for Kathy, his wife of 55 years. Kathy loved him back and tended to his every need. Joe was the family's Godfather and its North Star. Everyone wanted to be around him, hear his opinions, and get his advice. Joe won the affection of everyone who knew him. The staff at the Allegheny Health Network Cancer Center treated him like royalty. The family is grateful for everything they did for him. They extended his life well beyond anyone's expectations. Then there was football. He knew the game, loved the game, and gave his heart to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His season tickets are the one thing he probably took to heaven with him. Friends received on Friday Sept 1st. from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Simons Funeral Home, 7720 Perry Highway, where a blessing service will be held on Saturday 10:00 am.
