Joseph Paul Ramsdell Jr

Joseph P. Ramsdell Jr., age 67, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in Prentiss, Mississippi. Born on June 29, 1958, in Putnam, Connecticut, Joseph spent his life forging deep connections with others through quiet strength, wit, and generosity. After graduating high school, he proudly joined the United States Navy, where he served with honor and dedication. His journey took him from the Northeast to the heart of Mississippi, where he built a life grounded in family, purpose, and community. Joseph will be remembered for his unwavering warmth, his love for storytelling, and the steady wisdom he offered those lucky enough to know him. His legacy lives on in every life he touched. He is survived by his three children: Amy Pate (Mike) of Panama City, Florida; Christopher Ramsdell (Crystal) of Gautier, Mississippi; and Bridget Thompson (Tommy) of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Tara Dewey (Blake), TJ Thompson, Haley Miles (Titus), Tia Thompson, Ashlyn Pate, Gage Ramsdell, Marshall Thompson, Teagan Thompson, Hayden Pate, and Madison Ramsdell; and three great-great grandchildren: Kenzo Miles, Maisie-Rea Dewey, and Onyx Dewey. Joseph is also survived by his two brothers, Carl Ramsdell (Carla) of Connecticut and Stuart Ramsdell (Jackie) of Georgia; and two sisters, Rebecca Wilson (Gregory) of Delaware and Donna Miller of Georgia. He will be deeply missed by many friends who knew him as a loyal companion, a steady presence, and a man who could always be counted on for a kind word or a helping hand.
