Joseph Charles Rees, of West Harrison, Indiana passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, at the age of 87. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to William and Margaret (nee Lamping) Rees on April 8, 1934. Joseph worked for the City of Cincinnati in the surveying department. He then went on to actively serve in the United States Navy for 3 years, where he surveyed and mapped the ocean floor. Upon leaving the Navy, Joseph went back to school and received his surveying degree. Joseph married Anita Albertz on June 2, 1962, and they were blessed 5 children: Margaret, Tim, Christine, Andrew, and Patrick. He loved golf, both playing and watching. Joseph was a family man and dearly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Anita Rees; children: Margaret Lahmann, Tim (Vicki) Rees, Christine (Eric) Beckroege, Andrew Rees, & Patrick (Annette) Rees; 21 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandchildren: Holly Beckroege & Christopher Rees; sister: Dolores Rees.
Visitation will be held at St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, 23670 Salt Fork Rd, Bright, Indiana on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at 9:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial to follow at St John the Baptist Catholic cemetery with Military Honors provided by St Leon American Legion and the US NAVY.
Memorials are requested to the Franciscan Fathers or to Roger Bacon High School.
