Joseph "Joe" John Renno, 74, of
Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at his residence.
He was the loving husband of Darlene L. (Moyer) Renno for 52 years. Joe was born in Belleville, PA to the late John Rufus Renno and the late Salina (Peachey) Renno.
He attended Northwest Area High School in Shickshinny, PA. Throughout his lifetime, Joe worked as a carpenter for the former Yordy Builder and Contracting Company in Sunbury, PA, Walton Bergey in
Souderton, PA, Floyd Kratz in Telford, PA, and lastly for Hunsberger Builders in Harleysville, PA. After retiring in 2014, he worked part-time as a self-employed carpenter doing business as Renno Renovations in
Souderton, PA.
Joe was a member of Haycock Mennonite Church in Quakertown, PA where he formerly served as a superintendent, Adult Men's Sunday school class teacher, and as the church trustee. He volunteered for Christian Aid Ministries in Ephrata, PA and for the Souderton Mennonite Homes in
Souderton, PA.
Joe enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved annual camping trips with the family and church family over the last 20 years. Joe was an avid reader of Christian books. He loved woodworking, remodeling, and visiting his hometown in Belleville, PA. He enjoyed singing, listening to story tapes on cassettes and CD's, vegetable gardening, model car and airplanes, and going to the Souderton Mennonite Homes Antique Car Show. Joe also enjoyed making breakfast, BBQ chicken, and eating some interesting food combinations.
He was a kind, gentle, down to earth, hardworking, laid back man who was straight forward and told it how it was.
In addition to his wife, Darlene, Joe is survived by his daughter, Sherlyn "Sherry" Joy McFarlane & husband, James of Drexel Hill, PA; his son, Joseph Eric Renno of Lititz, PA; his granddaughter, Christina Renae McFarlane of Drexel Hill, PA; his grandson, James "LJ" McFarlane III of Drexel Hill, PA; his sister, Irene Lepley & husband, Dave of Carlisle, PA; his three brothers, Daniel Renno & wife, Faye of Danville, PA, William Renno & wife, Sharon of Danville, PA, Timothy Renno & wife, Judith of Milton, PA; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewings will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Indian Creek Mennonite Church, 637 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 10:00 am at Indian Creek Mennonite Church, 637 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969.
Burial will take place at Indian Creek Mennonite Cemetery.
