Joseph Rivera

Former Officer Joseph Rivera of the Horsham Township Police Department passed away peacefully at Temple University Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 24, 2025. He was 46.
Joe was the beloved husband of 24 years to Stephanie A. Rivera.
Born in Bristol, PA he was a loving son of Angel Luis Rivera and the late Maria Cordero.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom as part of the Global War on Terrorism and after his service to the country; Joe began serving his local community by becoming a Police Officer for Horsham Township.
Joe was a faithful and enthusiastic Eagles and Phillies fan who loved watching them play surrounded by his family and friends. He was an avid gamer who enjoyed spending time playing with his close friends and family. Joe loved going on vacations where he enjoyed playing mini golf and spending time in the arcade with his children.
Joe also loved time spent in the countryside and especially in the mountains of Virginia on family trips to visit his brother. When he was not spending time in the mountains, Joe enjoyed watching Military Movies and Philadelphia Sports. Joe was fond of watching birds visit his yard with his morning coffee but deep down, Joe truly cherished any and all time he spent surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. Joe will be greatly missed, but eternally loved and remembered by everyone who was in his life and loved by him.
In addition to his wife Stephanie and his father Angel, Joe is survived by his three adoring and loving children: Shane, Skylah, and Rylie Rivera. He is also survived by his brother Javier Rivera and his wife Tina, his three sisters Carmen Carabello and her husband Ed, Annette Martinez, and Sandra Yancey and her husband June as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends
Joe's family will receive friends and members of the law enforcement community on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 8:30 am until his Funeral Service 11:15am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. His interment with Military Honors will follow at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.
Joe's family kindly requests that people attending wear clothing in support of his two favorite teams, the Eagles and Phillies, aside from service uniforms.
