Carolyn Penta Obituary
Carolyn Logan Penta passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 21, 2025 at the age of 89. She was born in Reading, PA in 1936 to Ruth Latham Logan and George Ross Logan.
She met her former husband, Michael J. Penta Jr. while working at the University of Pennsylvania hospital in Philadelphia. They married in 1961.
A longtime, active member of Pebble Hill Church in Doylestown, PA, Carolyn brought her spirit of service to gatherings for more than 40 years and forged lifelong friendships with members of the community. Professionally, she worked as a property manager with Mid Atlantic Property Management, where her attention to detail, fairness, and care for the communities she served made her a trusted and respected colleague.
Carolyn's journey in activism began in the 1980s with Witness for Peace, an organization dedicated to promoting nonviolence and human rights in Latin America. During the height of the Contra War, she traveled to Nicaragua to help keep flighting out of villages and bear witness to the effects of U.S. foreign policy. For the next 25 years, she returned regularly to the same rural villages forging deep ties with local families. She helped bring solar power to homes, supported the education of many children from primary school through college, and played a vital role in building a school that continues to serve the community today.
Beloved mother, grandmother, activist and advocate, she is survived by her son, Michael J. Penta III and his wife, Melisa Penta; her daughter, Elizabeth Logan Penta; her grandson, Leo Townes Heywood; and she was grandmother to the late Cooper Logan Penta.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home at 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain, PA 18901. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Carolyn's interment will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
